I was never so grateful for most of the things in my life. I take them granted as if there is nothing so much to be thankful. Then this COVID 19 happened to us, to the people of the ungrateful world. Forcing us to think twice about life, about spiritually, God/Allah/Creator/ and everything.

Ok, let’s not go to the spiritually for now. We will talk about this later in more depth inshallah.

Today I will talk about why we should be grateful and why our soul needs to be full of gratitude towards everything that we enjoy in our day to day life.

Remember your days before Corona? How was it? Chilling outside may be in a fancy cafe or hangout with your friends in your favorite corner of your University/College/School. Do you do that now? I believe no! Do you know when we are going back to our normal life? Everything is uncertain, unstable, and hazardous. Believe me, it was always there but some great power constantly saving us from all of this without even seeking acknowledgment.

What about your family and health so much concern right? Washing hands more than you used to before or taking food that may enhance your immune system? Huh? Lots of care!

Your job? You were complaining that your income is less than your friends, they ride on Mercedes-Benz or you have two tuitions but XYZ has 3. Complain, complain, complain. (You, me, us) we never get contented about what we are getting. Never grateful for what we have. Just busy with comparing when we are alive today is a gift, a miracle. We have our job, We have a roof above our head, food to eat. This is the reason we should be grateful, thankful.

This quarantine made me realize that nothing is free. Everything we get in our life, they are not constant. I may not wake up tomorrow if my heartbeat stops. I may not have my job tomorrow if the lockdown stays longer. I may not get enough food tomorrow or get a healthy life! Anything can happen to me, to you, to anyone.

Mashallah, you read this far that means you don’t worry about food, place to live and enjoy a good internet on your phone/laptop where you are reading article be grateful for that. COVID 19 shows us even hugging your friend can be struggling. When you can do that without thinking be thankful for that.

Lastly, if you want to be happy, be grateful!
